IT Service Owner

We’re looking for an exceptional IT Service Owner to help us make a difference to our planet.

As our IT Service Owner, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Your world of expertise

You will join a area of Technology that provides centralised solutions to help our delivery teams focus on their business problems without having to worry about common problems like cloud environments, logging, monitoring and alerting, data transfer or identity and access management.

As IT Service owner you will be responsible for the successful operation and continuous improvement of our central Logging, Monitoring and Alerting solution as well as our customer facing Identity and Access Management. You may also be required to help develop and deliver new services that fit our mission.

Your key duties include

• All aspects of IT Service management
• Managing finances including budgeting and forecasting
• Delivering business cases for new services or improvement of existing ones
• Managing the relationship with suppliers and vendors to ensure performance and value for money

As our IT Service Owner, your total reward package will be up to £76,330 annually, which includes:

• £52,799 base pay
• An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%
• Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA) you will be paid £3,800 per annum as a market supplement to reflect the demand for your skills. Whilst in post, you will be paid this market driven allowance from April 2024 until September 2025 in your monthly pay
• Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave

Essential Criteria, skills and experience:

1. IT Service Management: You have experience in managing IT services. With a good understanding of the IT service lifecycle and experience in applying best practices and frameworks to deliver high-quality and reliable IT services. (We're experts by nature)
2. Financial and commercial: You have strong financial and commercial skills, and you are able to manage the budget and costs of your IT services. You have experience in preparing and reviewing business cases, financial plans, and forecasts.
3. Customer and stakeholder focus: You have excellent customer and stakeholder management and communication skills, and you are able to build and maintain positive and productive relationships with internal and external and stakeholders. (Better Together)
4. Leadership and management: You have leadership and teamwork skills, and you are able to lead and motivate a team of IT professionals, especially thought change. You also have line management and IT recruitment experience.
